We know that dessert is an essential part in any gourmet menu, during this edition of the International Gourmet Festival of Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit and Tepic, La Leche restaurant will bring you the signature flavor of La Postrería, the creation of renowned Chef Fernanda Covarrubias. Let’s get to know her!
Born in 1988, in Guadalajara (Jalisco, Mexico). While this passionate Tapatia was graduated in Tourism Management in the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, she worked in several restaurants of the city (such as Cabernet and Ofelia Bistró among others).
In the course of this degree she got a stage in Valencia (Spain) but by circumstances of life, there was a last moment change, taking her to the Hacienda Benazuza (Two Michelin Stars).
In spite of the little experience with this kind of kitchens before arriving, she was able to adapt herself emphasizing a self-taught and disciplined way of learning, which revealed a vocation that was latent.
This perseverance and pursuit of perfectionism led her to work in great restaurants along with the world-renowned Ferrán Adriá and Hestón Blumenthal as bakery manager.
After being the head of the bakery at restaurant Benazuza in Cancun, where she put all her creativity into practice, and having taken courses in the famous Parisian pastry shop of Ladurée, she went back to her homeland to establish in a place everything she learned and researched, this place was translated in La Postrería.
Founding La Postrería in 2013, this place was quickly accepted by the public, receiving multiple publications internationally. In this way, Fernanda also becomes part of important national and international gastronomic festivals such as Morelia En Boca, Vallarta Gastronomic, COME, Hermosillo Chef Festival, Chicago Gourmet, among others, as well as workshops and conferences in different universities throughout Mexico.
