CULINARY THEME Similarities in Asian and Mexican cuisine
Alan Huang was born in Taipei Taiwan and immigrated to America as a child. He began his career learning sushi. Starting as a prep cook, he worked his way up to become Chef de Cuisine. Later, Alan left sushi to explore classical and western cuisines. Working under Dean Fearing’s mentorship for 5 years, he learned southwestern cuisine and began to blend Asian and Western cooking techniques and flavors. He is currently Executive Chef for Bon Appetit Management Co. in Dallas, TX.
At 17, he began his career in the kitchen. He worked in different hotels in Puerto Vallarta ascending to become a Corporate Chef, establishing culinary standards in hotels in Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. He has participated in gastronomic festivals in Beirut and Muscat, in the Gulf of Oman, and collaborated at the Du Pale hotel in Biarritz, France. He has worked for 16 years at Marival Resorts, currently serving as Executive Chef at Marival Armony.
